I'm an academic. When I taught C++ last year, many students struggled because the IDE completed a lot of the code for them; their programming assignments scored high marks, but they struggled to answer basic programming questions in written tests. We've adjusted by weighting the tests more heavily, and it seems to help.When I learned to program we had very few programming tools, but I feel I learned more basic skills as a result.Have people in the industry noticed a difference?
